See Christ and Not Believe
People can see Christ face to face or even desire to hear others talk about Him, and not believe (John 6:36; Acts 17:32). They can study Him, and yet won’t come to Him for life (John 5:39-40). They can know all the wonderful things God did—even His miracles and mighty acts, and yet won’t humble themselves and submit to Him (Daniel 5:22).
Here’s why:
“You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land—the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. Yet the LORD has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day.” (Deuteronomy 29:2-4).
You don’t need to be born again to be religious, to find that there are good teachings in the Bible, or that Christ is a good example to follow. You don’t need to be born again to want to hear the Gospel or go to church. But you do need to be born again to see Christ in the Gospel, to want to come to Him who is the Head of His Church, and to see Him as your all in all.
Sooner or later, we all must face this uncomfortable truth. When we can see and acknowledge this truth, then we can truly say, “Now I see. Salvation is of the LORD!”
