On Eternal Security - Part 4
In the previous post, we got a glimpse of the “They Say” and why it can’t be trusted. I want to firmly establish this idea in your mind before we proceed.
“…let God be true, but every man a liar”
—Romans 3:4
Read that carefully. There is no exception there. Not “some men” but “every man” is a liar. This includes your favourite teacher(s), preacher(s), philosopher(s), scholar(s), YouTuber(s) and those with PhD. It also includes me. We’re all deceivers and deceiving, either knowingly or unknowingly (2 Timothy 3:13) when we reason according to the flesh.
Let that sink in (cf. 2 Timothy 2:7).
Only what God says is true, and only His word is truth (John 17:17). In a world of ideas, beliefs and authorities, we’re faced with “They Say” vs. “God Says.”
THEY SAY, but is that so? Regarding the topic of Eternal Security (or any theological subject), the majority of Christians don’t think biblically. Moreover, most of them would confidently assert their ability to determine who is or isn’t saved. For instance, they might cite someone who was once deeply devoted to Jesus but has now become an atheist. From this observation, they mistakenly conclude that a genuine child of God can lose their salvation. This presumptuous belief is one of the reasons why many fail to perceive the clear biblical teachings on Eternal Security. All they see are warning passages obscured by their flawed perspective, and they miss the obvious truth as a result.
There are individuals who “claim” to be Christians, but are not. Or to put it another way
“you have tested those WHO SAY they are apostles and ARE NOT, and have found them liars…”
Or how about
“I know the blasphemy of those WHO SAY they are Jews and ARE NOT…” (Revelation 2:2,9)
Wait, you mean to say that there are those WHO SAY but ARE NOT? Absolutely! There are countless Scripture to prove this but I’ll make this short by ending it with:
“Not everyone WHO SAYS to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven… MANY WILL SAY to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord…’ … then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you…’” (Matthew 7:21-23)
The key to uncovering the truth about Eternal Security is to disregard all the “They Say” claims and concentrate on what “God Says.”
